About this Study: We are working with Arizona Animal Hospital to evaluate two products in dogs with skin allergies. All dogs receive one of two products for one month. Dogs will be evaluated on Day 1, and those that qualify will be rechecked at 1, 2 and 4 weeks later. During each visit, we will perform an exam, get a blood sample, and take photographs of your dog’s skin.
Costs: There are no costs for study related exams, bloodwork or the products. However, procedures or medications that are not part of this study will be the owner’s responsibility.
Owners may receive up to $300 (in-clinic credit) plus one month supply of allergy medication, depending on the number of completed visits and study compliance. Owners will be responsible for returning for each scheduled visit, giving the products each day, and completing a daily itch score form. If your dog is enrolled, you may withdraw at any time, and you will still get any in-clinic credit owed based on the number of visits you have completed. This will be discussed during your first visit if your dog qualifies for the study.
Dogs may be eligible* if they:
- are ≥ 2 years of age, ≥ 44 pounds, and not a Collie, Australian Shepherd, Shetland Sheepdog, or herding breed;
- have moderate to severe allergic dermatitis (itchy skin) that is red or inflammed, such as face, feet, ears and/or abdomen; and
- have not received steroids or skin allergy medications for last 30 days (except antihistamines).
*Additional eligibility requirements will be discussed at the first visit.
PLEASE NOTE:
If your dog does not qualify for the study or you decide not to enroll your dog, you will not be compensated. If your dog needs treatment, we will discuss options with you during your first visit and you will be responsible for these costs.
