Animal Health Consultants has established a veterinary clinical research collaboration with one of the top veterinary practices in the country. Dr. Craig Woods is privileged to work with Arizona Animal Hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona, a state of the art facility that was ranked #44 on the list of America’s Best Veterinary Hospitals by USA Today. Established by Dr. Brett Cordes in 2015, Arizona Animal Hospital is equipped with ultrasound, digital radiography, surgical suite, in-house laboratory and pharmacy, and cryostorage. Dr. Woods, a licensed veterinarian, will serve as an onsite investigator to implement and manage veterinary clinical studies with the veterinary team and staff to help advance veterinary therapeutics and diagnostics. Dr. Craig Woods Presents Comparative Medicine at 2025 AzVMA State Meeting
The Arizona Veterinary Medical Association invited Dr. Craig Woods to present “Comparative Medicine, advancing human and veterinary medicine in parallel” at the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association’s State Conference, held on June 18th, 2025 in Mesa, Arizona. Dr. Woods provided a brief history of comparative medicine, One Medicine, and contemporary view of how veterinary clinical research is contributing to the advancement of human and veterinary medicine in parallel. Dr. Woods emphasized the need to re-establish a One Medicine approach to overcome the deficits of laboratory research and accelerate the development of new biomedical innovations. Dr. Woods is the founder of Animal Health Consultants (Woods Consulting, LLC) and One Medicine Group, LLC. Dr. Woods is a biomedical consultant with extensive experience in managing human Phase II-III clinical trials, regulatory affairs, veterinary clinical research, and business development. He is the former Director of Infectious Disease and Biosecurity Projects at Arizona State University’s Complex Adaptive Systems Initiative, where he worked on various projects including biological threat assessments for US Dept. of Defense, avian influenza biosurveillance, and human subjects research with Mayo Clinic Phoenix. Prior to ASU, Craig was the Director of Midwestern University’s Institute for Healthcare Innovation with a joint appointment as the Director of Clinical Research for the Abrazo Health network. Prior to academia, Craig spent 17 years in pharmaceutical industry, working for companies in the US, Mexico, and France where he led due diligence and licensing negotiations for numerous drugs, biologics and medical devices. He received his BS, DVM, and MS from the University of Missouri and his MBA from Arizona State University.
